When I was going through Acupuncture school it was “the cool thing” to be put on herbs. Everything we were learning was new and exciting and we all wanted to experience it all. I remember I was so excited when I first got my herbs that I ran and got my water bottle, filled it up with hot water and mixed in my new granules. I couldn’t wait to feel like a new person! I took the first sip and immediately wanted to spit it out.
If you’ve never had herbs before, most of them taste like dirt and this one was clearly soil that had been sitting for the last decade.
So when Dao Labs sent me some of their herbal formulas to try I waited about 3 months before I actually tried them. Herbs tasted gross, why would these be any different? I was very wrong.
Dao Labs sent me four herbal formulas: womens formula, emotional balance, cold & allergy and digestive harmony. I read the directions and decided to try the digestive harmony. What I immediately liked about the formula is that I added it to my hot water and when I did it fizzled like a magic potion.
When I first tried them I thought, children would really like this and be willing to drink it if you told them it was a magic potion ready to help heal their bodies.
I’ve always had bad digestion. I don’t always make the best food choices, I eat whenever I have time and not really on a schedule and even though I know I have and intolerance to dairy I eat it anyway. I have to say I’m lucky. I have a great probiotic and I’m very regular but I do suffer with bloating. I took the herbs as directed and the next day I immediately saw a difference. I didn’t feel as bloated or digestively stuck as I normally do. The even better thing about these herbs is that they made me realize how badly I needed to adjust my diet and that’s exactly what I did!
I had the same results with the other herbs I took. I found that even in the sample packets I still saw a difference in my body. Most herbs take weeks to build up before you notice a difference and I was noticing a difference in less than 4 days. What I liked about them, besides the flavor, was that they came in pre-measured packets.
Normally with herbs you have to do a certain amount of spoonful’s, but this was easier. I simply opened the packet and poured the herbs in. They were definitely a little sweet for my taste, but I’d rather they be sweet than taste like dirt.
I also liked how these herbs were labeled, because they didn’t leave you guessing what they were going to do. Since herbal formulas can be complicated (most formulas have Chinese names and even changing one ingredient can potentially change the entire way the formula works) it was nice to have something that was simple and easy to prescribe to patients.
