Pain management is the most common reason people seek acupuncture treatments.
Acupuncture is great after accidents, pre & post-surgery, sports injuries and for chronic and acute pain conditions. The most common pain condition I see is low back pain/sciatica. When treating pain conditions, I’m still working to balance the body but I’m also working to use the muscles and tendons around the injured area to help relax the muscles and strengthen that area.
Cupping Therapy and Electrical Stimulation
Often, I will use cupping therapy and electrical stimulation to help treat these conditions. All these modalities work in different ways to reduce inflammation, increase circulation and promote healing in the affected area.
Each treatment we will work together to evaluate what has been working and what ways I can better facilitate your healing.
Many people are often concerned it might hurt since the affected area is usually more sensitive. Most people find there are one or two more tender spots, but nothing like the pain of getting an IV placed. Many people feel relaxed during treatments and even state they feel sensations in the affected area.
Pain management is one of the most common acupuncture treatments that is covered by insurance companies… because it has been proven to work. It is a wonderful drug free option to pain relief and it helps prevent the use of opioids which often lead to addiction.
It’s difficult to say how many sessions a person will need because it is based on a variety of factors such as: how long you have had the injury, how severe is the pain, where is the pain and how much will you be using the affected area day to day? I always recommend patients come in for a free consult to figure out the perfect treatment plan for them.
