My name is Stephanie and I am a licensed acupuncturist. I graduated with a Bachelor in Health Science and a Master’s in Oriental Medicine. When I was 25 I was stuck in a dead end job that I absolutely hated. I found myself constantly doing research on how to heal without traditional medicines that every doctor gives you.
Every time a friend mentioned something about a family member or someone they knew with any disease possible I would search holistic ways of healing, mostly studying nutrition and researching different foods and diets that could help with different conditions.
I decided to finally go back to school to study nutrition. I applied to Cuny Hunter and started my path to helping people get better. At Hunter I felt like something was missing. I wasn’t fulfilled with what I was learning and felt it was too impersonal. I began my search again and came across herbal medicine and Chinese medicine. Not knowing much I decided to enroll at New York College of Health Professionals. I was so scared, I had no idea what Acupuncture was, let alone tried it myself.
After the first semester I fell in love. I had finally found what I was looking for.
Something that connected all aspects of a persons ailment. Looking at every symptom and every feeling that a person has, not looking at the text book version and treating it the same way for everyone. I can finally say that I love my job, I love helping people get better and watching them realize that it is working and they are getting better. I treat a variety of things from pain, scar treatments, PTSD, insomnia and sleep issues, fibromyalgia, migraines, anxiety and pulmonary diseases. I love working with both adults and pediatrics. I truly enjoy treating gastroenterology issues like IBS and Crohns. It truly is amazing what Chinese medicine can do for someone, and I love seeing it firsthand when I am treating patients.
